Reformation

"Reformation is a revival that doesn't end.
It's something that continues to grown and build momentum.
It's a mindset change; a revelation.

Worship is a constant flowing in and flowing out; a connection to Jesus."

Life Verse

God showed me this verse while I was reading the One Year Bible the other day, and I'm claiming it!

God has chosen you
to take your place before him
to serve in conducting and leading worship—
this is your life work;
make sure you do it and do it well.

Leading Worship

“If leading worship is just about bringing a group of people into a room so we can get goosebumps and sing songs together, there’s not much value in that. But if leading worship is a means to an end, that we leave this place as a different kind of people, as part of a new humanity that God wants to create – the people that are caring for the widows and orphans, that aren’t bound by the systems of this world but becoming free, becoming fully engaged in our world – then that matters.”

228/601 COLLIDE

Sunday night, our church hosted an event know as 228/601 Collide. It was basically a gathering of youth thru college age students from the South Mississippi region. Hence the "228" and "601" area codes being represented. Over 275 students were in attendance with 15 youth groups taking part in shaking our region!

If you missed out (or if you're too old to attend like me) here is a link to the stream from that night. Be ready for your world to be rocked! COLLIDE

The next 228/601 Collide will be held on October 30th at Northwood Church Gulfport campus. If you need more info, check out the Collide facebook page!

Songwriting

So since I last blogged, I have written 3 more songs! I'm really excited. It's like once God poured out the anointing for the first song, it comes easily now. What a blessing! I think the most amazing part is that God is giving me songs that are specifically for our church. I'll post lyrics later, but the three new songs are "Listen (Psalm 95)", "The Chamber" (which started as a spontaneous song that came out of our Wednesday prayer meeting), and the third one is untitled. Still working on a name for that one. :)

Thanks for being so encouraging and believing in me! God is doing great things in South Mississippi, and I'm so excited to be a part of it.

He's Careful

"Risk your life and get more than you ever dreamed of. Play it safe and end up holding the bag."

This scripture came from Luke 19:26 in the Message paraphrase.

I had just told Jeffry Saturday night about how I was a little nervous about debuting my song the next morning. He was telling me there's nothing to be worried about.

I went on to explain to him that this song is very vulnerable. It completely shows my heart. It literally came straight out of my prayer journal. He comforted me and encouraged me which was great.

Sunday morning I got up to read my One Year Bible as usual, and I came across this verse in Luke."Risk your life and get more than you ever dreamed of. Play it safe and end up holding the bag." Through this verse, God told me that morning that we don't have to be afraid to risk our lives and our dreams because He is careful with us. He will not take advantage of our hearts. I didn't realize it as I wrote down those words, but while I was in the shower He reminded me. I realized that He was telling me that although my heart would be completely exposed through this song, that He is careful with my heart and won't take advantage of it.

Wow...He's so faithful and careful with us. He's tender and loving, the perfect example of a Daddy.

Who Am I

Great news! I wrote a song!

Obviously I have written some little choruses and verses here and there, but this is the first full song! Thursday afternoon I was reading over some verses and things in my prayer journal. There was a verse from Psalm 81 that just resonated with me, and I was thinking how great it would be to music. So I sat down at my piano with my prayer journal and just started playing chords and singing the verse and the words that the Lord had given me earlier in the week.

The Holy Spirit truly fell in my living room that day! It was such a sweet time with the Lord that I will never forget. A lifetime memory. I was so touched and moved that I called and told my best friend, my husband, and my pastor about the experience.

When I told my pastor he said, "Words and chords?" and I said "Yes..."

"Good, bring it tonight, I want to hear the whole band play it."

...my pastor has a great way of not just kicking you out of the nest but actually catapulting you off into the sunset. But I love him for it.

Out of Thursday afternoon and night came the 601's first worship song that truly has our heart written all over it.

I'll have to figure out a way to get a recording on here but here are the lyrics:

Who Am I

V1: I hear a voice, a whisper from the One
I never thought would speak to me
God, who am I, that you even choose to know me
You sent Your son to die for me

C: Praise flows from my heart ////

V2: You came to me, in the cool of the day
You came to me and showed me the way
You came to me, in the midst of where I stood
You sent Your son to die for me

C: Praise flows from my heart ////

BR: I know that I'm accepted
I know that I am Yours
I know that I'm forgiven
Because the cross You bore

The ihop Passion for Jesus Conference can be viewed LIVE online here April 8-10!

"If you have the Holy Spirit, you're on the ministry team."- Mike Bickle

"The wars of the Lord aren't enough to keep your heart in love with Him. There has to be an element of the heart that says I'm a man of one thing. I love Jesus who highly pursues us. When His face is drawn from you, you realize you cannot live on false loves. My heart has to find the flame. Sometimes God comes searching for us through songs, burning bushes...but I thank Him that He comes searching for us. He is coming to put passion for Jesus in our hearts." - Lou Engle

The Way You Move Me

Do you know how you've caught my eye?
In the secret place, where you chose to die.
Do you know the way you move me?

Isaiah 42:8-13

8 "I am the LORD; that is my name!
I will not give my glory to another
or my praise to idols.

9 See, the former things have taken place,
and new things I declare;
before they spring into being
I announce them to you."

10 Sing to the LORD a new song,
his praise from the ends of the earth,
you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it,
you islands, and all who live in them.

11 Let the desert and its towns raise their voices;
let the settlements where Kedar lives rejoice.
Let the people of Sela sing for joy;
let them shout from the mountaintops.

12 Let them give glory to the LORD
and proclaim his praise in the islands.

13 The LORD will march out like a mighty man,
like a warrior he will stir up his zeal;
with a shout he will raise the battle cry
and will triumph over his enemies.

Lifestyle Worship, Part 2

Kim Walker's take on a Lifestyle of Worship

Lifestyle Worship

Worship is a lifestyle.

Being a worshiper means you worship through the good times and the bad.

True worship is being so devoted to God that our daily lives bring glory to Him.

Worship leads to change. Through worship, your circumstances can change!

*Acts 16:23-26
